ICD Property is proud to announce the successful submission for a 49-storey mixed-use development and revitalisation of the City Tattersalls Club with the City of Sydney.

The Concept Development Application (DA), including plans to protect elements of highly significant heritage-value found in the Club buildings, was lodged with City of Sydney by The City Tattersalls Club in October 2018.

Appointed architect firm fjmt has prepared an indicative design scheme to illustrate the potential to create a complete re-development of the 123-year-old Club including the delivery of new world-class facilities, the construction of a 4-star boutique hotel with approximately 100 rooms and a residential tower comprising 246 apartments.

The illustrative design has been submitted to demonstrate how the envelope will deliver a high-quality development outcome.

“We are excited to create a development that will provide something for everyone who visits Sydney’s CBD. The activation along the ground floor with modern restaurants and bars will bring people together to socialise, while the hotel offering complements Sydney’s booming tourism market. We’ve also greatly considered how to best integrate the building into its neighbouring surroundings to ensure the highest quality outcome not only for the site but the entire surrounding area,” said ICD Property’s Deputy Managing Director Matthew Khoo.

City Tattersalls Club CEO Marcelo Veloz said the submission represented a major milestone for the historic Club which, along with ICD Property, had to go back to the drawing board last year after an earlier development application was declined.

The process of rethinking the proposal, while carrying out extensive consultation with stakeholder groups on key aspects, including traffic impact, heritage conservation elements and planning matters over the past year, had helped all parties develop a more considered submission.

“It will be a state-of-the-art multi-purpose facility for inner-city residents and a tremendous new base from which the Club can continue to serve the city and its many thousands of members well into a second century,” he added.

Following Concept DA consent, a design excellence competition will follow, in which multiple architect firms will be invited to bring the highest quality of thinking and originality to the project. The competition jury, comprising members nominated by both the consent authority and ICD Property, will be the ultimate decision makers in selecting the winning scheme for the development.
