Meet Simone Gervasi

What have you been up to in the past 12 months? It has definitely been a busy year for me both personally and professionally. In terms of ICD, I’ve been working on a new retail food concept we will be launching in early 2018 called HWKR. This has been an exciting project to work on because it combines both my love of food and property – sometimes I wonder if I can actually even call this a job! I’ve also been jet setting around the world, eating my way through Europe and experiencing the cultural delights of Dubai.

What has brought you to ICD? I developed a passion for property at a young age, growing up in a family of property investors and spending a number of my weekends at auctions. I always knew that the property sector was for me and when a role at ICD came available it was something I could not refuse. What has kept me at ICD for five years is the strong values that the team hold, amazing projects I get to work on every day and the lifelong friends I’ve made along the way.

What was your dream job when you were a child? A far stretch from what I do today, but when I was younger I was fascinated by dolphins and wanted to become a marine biologist.

Is there a skill that you would love to master? One skill I would love to master is to speak fluently in another language. When I was at school I learnt both French and Chinese and whilst I can still speak them well, I wish I had the time to explore both destinations and improve on this further.

What takes up too much of your time? Social media… especially now that I’m working on HWKR. I love looking at various food pages and seeing concepts from around the world which we can implement into the project. It also helps me not feel guilty about looking at food photos for hours at a time #foodenvy

Do you have a claim to fame? As a 10 year old girl I appeared on Chinese television, singing a song I had learnt at school. They had filmed me whilst I was dining in a popular Melbourne restaurant, thanks to my mum letting them know I could sing a Chinese song.

What is the best single day on the calendar? That’s easy… my birthday!
