Guests at the event included City of Melbourne Lord Mayor, Robert Doyle, ICD Property Managing Director, Michael Mai, builder Multiplex Regional Managing Director, Graham Cottam, architect Elenberg Fraser Director, Callum Fraser, and project manager Sinclair Brook Executive Director, Phil Burns.
The “topping out” event – a construction industry tradition that signifies the structural completion of a building – was held in Eq. Tower’s stunning seventh floor lounge with guests venturing up to the roof to view the ceremonial tree.
Eq. Tower is located at 127-141 A’Beckett Street in Melbourne’s CBD and comprises 633 apartments in one, two and three bedroom configurations. The complex boasts impressive residential facilities including unprecedented communal facilities including a 25-metre outdoor swimming pool and barbecue area, indoor gym, sauna, spa, private dining rooms, karaoke suites, cinema, games room and dining lounges.
Eq. Tower’s design also includes a range of ESD features such as photovoltaic solar panels, rainwater harvesting and re-use, water efficient fixtures and appliances and high performance double glazing.
The building has received exceptionally high praise from those involved, with many saying it has set a new benchmark for residential towers in Melbourne.
ICD Property Managing Director Michael Mai believes that Eq. Tower embodies ICD Property’s overarching objective to influence and improve high-rise apartment developments in the city.
“Eq. Tower has been an unequivocal achievement for ICD Property. We secured a planning permit from Minister’s office in record time and the development went on to become one of Melbourne’s fastest selling residential projects, with 80% of residences sold within two months,” said Mr Mai.
“The construction of the tower is already seven weeks ahead of schedule. We chose partners who are the best at what they do and it is showing in what has been developed.
“Eq. Tower reflects ICD Property’s core values of innovation, collaboration, passion and consideration. This was our first joint venture with Chinese institutional company Sino-Ocean Land and it has been an outstanding opportunity to introduce the company to the Australian marketplace.”
The first 34 floors of Eq. Tower were settled in early December, with the building’s first residents expected to move in by Christmas.
